With one of BKFC’s most stacked cards, there’s plenty to go over from this show.
The number one pound-for-pound and consensus bare-knuckle GOAT, Luis Palomino (9-1, 3 KO’s), has been defeated for the first time in his BKFC career at the hands of Austin Trout (2-0, 1 KO). The former WBA Super Welterweight World Champion was able to pick his spots and find holes in Palomino's defense, scoring a knockdown in the fourth and taking the decision by a wide margin. Trout’s win stops Palomino's bid to become BKFC welterweight champion for a second time and, in the process, he becomes the first athlete to win a world championship in BKFC and in boxing.
While we saw one record-breaking run end, earlier on the card, we witnessed another extended. Cuban-born Bryan Duran (6-0, 6 KO’s) has now stopped all six of his opponents since joining the bare-knuckle game, the longest streak to start a career in company history. He did it against the number one ranked contender and former world title challenger Louie Lopez (3-3, 3 KO’s), no less. It was a massive win for the 28-year-old, who now likely draws into featherweight champ Kai Stewart.
Bryce Henry (4-0, 4 KO’s) also continued his run of dominance in BKFC, ending the previously undefeated Robbie Peralta’s (3-1) night due to a doctor’s stoppage after the second round. At only 23 years old, Henry continues to not only be one of the company’s brightest young stars, but has emerged as a true contender in the lightweight division.
In the heavyweight division, Leonardo Perdomo (3-0, 3 KO’s) needed just 33 seconds to stop Bobby Brents (2-1, 2 KO’s, 1 NC) and stay undefeated. Sticking with first-round stoppages, Edgard Plazaola (2-0, 2 KO’s) knocked Darrick Gates (1-5, 1 KO, 1 NC) to the canvas four times before the bout was finally waved off with 1 second remaining in the opening round. It was an overall great showing from all fighters involved, for the full results, check right below.
