Two events in one day meant double the action for bare knuckle fans!
BKFC and BYB were both in action on August 10th. BKFC would kick off the day with an action packed card in the UK. The main event would see Connor Tierney face Jonny Graham for the inaugural UK welterweight title. For Tierney he had a six fight win streak snapped last year against Jake Lindsey and after nearly a year and a half of inactivity there were a lot of questions surrounding him. While Graham was coming in on a two fight win streak to start his bare knuckle career.
Tierney would get off to a great start, seemingly shaking off the ring rust early, dropping Graham in the second round. But as the bout continued Graham would work his way back into it scoring a knockdown of his own. Unfortunately for Graham it wouldn’t be enough and Tierney would win by unanimous decision.
After the fight he very plainly laid out his plan, win the BKFC European Championship in his next fight and the winner of Austin Trout and Rico Franco after that for the World Championship. Especially given the time away from the ring this is a very smart move, asking for a Trout fight or Franco in just your second fight back might be a little bit too much to bite off. But a bout for the European Championship or at the very least a bout in America against Carlos Trinidad Snake to establish a number one contenders spot. Tough For Jonny Graham who fought a great fight even getting a knockdown late in the fight but ultimately comes up short for the first time in his bare knuckle career.

BYB 29
And new! Gregoris Cisneros stopped Cub Hawkins in an absolute wild main event of BYB 29. Cisneros was in charge of the early going, scoring a knockdown in the first, second and the third. After those knockdowns the body language from both was very telling. Hawkins looked dejected and exhausted but would rally and knockdown Cisneros twice in round four. But Cisneros would refuse to go away, knocking Cub down AGAIN in the fifth round Hawkins would get up to his feet only to be dropped two more times and the referee had finally seen enough and waved it off.
For Hawkins it was a valiant effort but ultimately just wasn’t his night. Cisneros used his power early and effectively and stayed aggressive even after Hawkins had responded and knocked him down in the fourth. For Cisneros a fight with Jimmy Sweeney is likely out there and would be his best opportunity to make a real name for himself. And for Hawkins, he has been very active this year and should likely take some time to recuperate and heal his body before coming back and pushing for his title rematch.
In the co main event we saw the end of Uly Diaz’s combat sports career when he defeated Szymon Szynkiewicz in just one round. In a sport that see’s too many veterans stay too late in the game and get brutally knocked out, or end up on a long losing streak. It was nice to see a guy like Diaz go out on a high note.
