On June 5th, appearing on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, BKFC President David Feldman alongside Nobuyuki Sakakibara on Rizin FF, announced an official partnership between BKFC and Rizin FF. The new duo will produce BKFC Shows in Japan, and all over the southeast Asia region.
The first official move will be to have Rizin Athlete Tatsuki Shinotsuka compete on BKFC’s card on July 12th and the BKFC will return the favour, sending two fights to be held on Rizin’s card on July 29th.
As it sits right now, it sounds like the partnership will be a talent swap, with Rizin fighters coming to BKFC for bare knuckle fights and BKFC fighters appearing on Rizin events but still under the BKFC ruleset. Feldman would allude to a future plan of starting a standalone promotion presented by both BKFC and Rizin, but didn’t expand on it.
More to come.
