A few thoughts after BKFC FN Omaha

Prelims
First of all, this entire card came to SCRAP. From the very beginning, Eduardo Peralta (1-2, 1 KO) looked great claiming his first BKFC win and leaving the plastic surgeon with plenty to keep him busy, opening several nasty cuts on his opponent Brandon Meyer (2-2, 1 KO).
Dionisio Ramirez (1-0, 1 KO) had a performance that is sure to put him in the running for Bare Knuckle Nations Knockout of the Month, when he bounced Kassius Kayne (0-1) off the canvas in the first round.
John Kreji (1-2, 1 KO) is too tough for his own good, clearly outmatched the former marine never stopped coming forward and never gave up until the flight was called after a fourth knockdown. Nate Morrow (1-0, 1 KO), the victor, had a performance he should be very proud of, never looked in danger and controlled the fight from start to finish.
Main Card
Tommy Strydom (3-0, 2 KO’s) def. Corey Roberts (1-1, 1 KO’s) via UD
Tommy Strydom looked like he was in for a short night at the office after the first round, hurting his opponent Corey Roberts on multiple occasions. But Roberts refused to go away, even tagging Strydom and taking some rounds through the middle of the fight, Strydom ultimately came away with the decision. Hats off to both for the battle.

Ryan Braun (3-0, 2 KO’s) def. Corey McIntosh (0-1) via UD
After the fights that were before the middle of the main card had a tough time following it up, however Ryan Braun and Corey McIntosh went to war for the full five minutes in a very bizarre fight. Braun blew his wad almost immediately into the fight leading to McIntosh having a clear speed advantage but on two different occasions Braun would muster enough energy to blast McIntsoh and send him to the canvas so despite a clear difference in body language and punches landed, it was McIntosh who needed a KO going into the fifth. Braun would persevere and collect win number three in the squared circle.
Stanislav Grosu (4-3, 4 KO’s) def Alonzo Martinez (3-1, 3 KO’s) via TKO
Coming into this one both men had finished all of their wins, so it wasn’t a matter of if, it was a matter of who. Grosu gained the upper hand in the second with some great combinations and took the perfect record from Martinez. Grosu bumps himself above .500, and keeps his 100% finish rate intact.

Co-Main Event: Dakota Cochrane (6-2, 5 KO’s) def. Jeremie Holloway (1-1-1) via TKO
Full disclosure I picked Holloway for this one, there was a lot going for him, he’s younger, been more active recently, taller, longer reach. That didn’t matter. Cochrane landed a massive left hand in the second round sending Holloway to the ground clutching his face, it was all over. You can’t buy experience and with the resume that Cochrane has built, there’s no reason he can’t challenge David Mundell for the middleweight title before the end of the year.

Main Event: Carlos Trinidad-Snake (5-0, 3 KO’s) def. Dustin Pague (3-3, 3 KO’s) via TKO
Despite the layoff, “Uzumaki” had no trouble shaking off the rust, settling in nicely towards the end of the opening round, landing a massive uppercut which may have been the decider. The bout would be stopped between rounds with Pague suffering a jaw injury. Despite a spirited call out of welterweight champion Austin Trout, this has been just two minutes of fighting in the last calendar year for Trinidad-Snake, a fight with Trout next is a tall task. But also in the last paragraph I said Cochrane was ready for a title shot, and he’s only fought for 42 more seconds in the same time frame. I don’t know, I’m a hypocrite I guess.
