BKFC NEWS & NOTES

Metal meets bare knuckle, a new title fight, and fantasy fights.

Dave Mundell

With bare knuckle having a fairly slow finish to August, we wanted to catch you up on some BKFC news.

Jeremy Stephens Teases Conor McGregor Bout

Everyone knows and has probably used the iconic “who the fook is that guy” Conor McGregor meme, but few know the actual context of that clip. In fact, it was McGregor replying to UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens, whom he completely dismissed as a potential opponent.

But Stephens hasn’t given up hope for a potential McGregor bout, and in an ironic twist, McGregor is now kinda sorta his boss in a sense. With McGregor’s ongoing turbulence with the UFC, he’s been spending much more time touting BKFC and also teasing the possibility of taking off the gloves himself.

Stephens told TMZ Sports that, no surprise, he’d be up for facing McGregor in BKFC.

"You never know," he said of the potential bout. "Stay tuned. If my name's ringing hot, my name's ringing bells, and the timing and things line up."

Before he can worry about McGregor, Stephens is set to have his hands full with Bobby Taylor on the Ferea-Masson-Wong undercard in Salt Lake City this weekend.

Mike Perry Says Jake Paul Won’t Face Him In Bare Knuckle

For about a month’s time, Mike Perry was utterly inescapable in the sport media sphere, doing more than just playing his part in the Jake Paul fight promotion, but arguably carrying it. Since getting knocked out by Paul in their pay-per-view boxing event, Perry has chilled out quite a bit, even doing a rather charming and wholesome post-fight podcast with Paul where they discussed the specifics of the bout.

Perry asked Paul about doing a bare knuckle fight, and the two suggested a possible meeting in MMA as well.

"One thing I want to remind Jake over and over again is that he wouldn’t do a bare-knuckle fight,” Perry told MMA Fighting recently. “Whether he says he would or not, especially after this fight in 10-ounce gloves. He wants to bring it up like ‘boxing is this incredible sport and these hooligans are out there doing this bare-knuckle stuff’ and blah, blah, blah."

Alex The Terrible Eyes Bare Knuckle Debut

It’s no secret that BKFC is always on the hunt for its next crossover signing and splash to help break into mainstream headlines, and they’ve found another one. The company has signed Slaughter To Prevail frontman Alex The Terrible.

The singer is expected to make his debut later this year, potentially in December, as he revealed to Full Send MMA last week.

“I’m just a musician, I’m not a fighter, I’m not a sportsman, or some shit,” Terrible said. “I’m just a regular dude who grew up in the streets. You call it in the hood. In Russia, if you grow up in a village, it is the hood. Then I found a boxing gym, I found myself in this f*cking boxing, a new passion.”

Speaking of crossovers, he seems to be targeting the company’s most successful splash signing to date, popular influencer Bryce Hall, who is 1-0 in bare knuckle thus far.

“We don’t know the opponent yet. I heard about one name, Bryce Hall,” Terrible said. “I really don’t care who it’s going to be. I just want to fight and I have nothing to lose because I’m a musician. If they put me against a fighter and if I knock him out, good. If he knocks me out, I don’t fucking care. I just want to put on a good fight and show what I have in my heart. That’s it.”

King Mo Out, Danny Christie In

Longtime MMA star Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal’s return from retirement has been postponed, as Lawal announced that he sustained an injury in training.

Lawal was expected to face Dave Mundell this September for Mundell’s BKFC middleweight championhip. However, the company has found a fascinating replacement, as UK star Danny Christie has been inserted as Mundell’s new opponent. Rather than keeping the bout on the same date, Christie is being given ample time to prepare, and the two will face off on the October 12 card in Marbella.

“My respect for BKFC and all of their top medical professionals, the matchmakers, David Feldman, is off the charts. I’ve got a brilliant relationship with them and I want to thank them for the opportunity,” said Christie.
