A night of fights that is flying under the radar needs its moment in the spotlight.
It’s definitely a tall task to have a stand alone event less than 24 hours after a world title fight, but that's the predicament BKFC Prospects Myrtle Beach finds itself in. While the card has definitely flown under the radar with BKFC 67 going on the day before it, I’ll do my best to prepare the fans for the double dip of bare knuckle action this weekend!
In the main event we see a rematch between Brandon Bushshaw and Rick Caruso, with some unfinished business. And now you’re probably saying “They’re doing the rematch of course there's unfinished business” but this time it's truly unfinished. The first go around Caruso scored a vicious knockdown in the first round, but in the second, the bout was called a No-Contest after Caruso took a shot to the back of the head and was unable to continue. Caruso likely feels he was robbed of a win, while not for nothing Bushshaw was starting to fight his way back into the contest and feels he may have been on his way to comeback himself. These two will likely waste no time and pick up right where they left off leading to an exciting headliner to cap off the night.
The rest of the match table is filled with what the name suggests, prospects. But the co-main will see two returning bare knuckles when Jeremiah Scott clashes with Dakota Highpine. Scott picked himself up off the canvas in his BKFC debut and scored a come-from-behind knockout to move to 1-0. His opponent Dakota Highpine will look to snap his three-fight skid and right the ship of his bare knuckle career. Don’t let the record fool you, Highpine has been in there with tough competition including Eric Dodson and Bryan Duran, albeit unsuccessfully.
Other names on the docket include former MMA fighters Justin Howell and Lewis Glover square up and look to start their bare knuckle careers off on the right foot. CJ Dean, an MMA fighter riding a two fight win streak will test the waters of bare knuckle against Jairo Santos who loses the gloves after a 3-0 MMA career of his own.
Prospect series are by the very concept, a wild card, with all the unknowns fans are bound to have something catch them off guard. That could be a stunning knockout or an all out war between two fighters you’ve never heard of.
