BYB 35 RESULTS AND REACTIONS

A new champion crowned and an early Fight of the Year candidate in BYB’s New Mexico Debut!

BYB Welterweight champion Javon Wright

Saturday January 11th, BYB Extreme was in Albuquerque, New Mexico for BYB 35. Originally supposed to be headlined by BYB two division champion LT Nelson defending his 168-lb. crown against James Connelly, the bout was scrapped due to a whole slew of reasons you can read about here. However the night itself was still a major success with UFC veteran Cain Velazquez making an appearance among others.

Taking over the main event, Javon Wright took on Walter Saravia for the vacant welterweight title. Wright needed just one round to pickup the KO and win a shiny new belt in the process.

Cody East and Dylan Rush put on one of the bloodiest and most brutal wars that has ever gone on inside the Mighty Trigon, putting it all on the line for as long as it lasted. Rush was wearing lots of facial damage and the swelling was too much for him to continue into the fourth round.

By all indications the bout between Jerome Hatch and Dan Lerwell was supposed to be an all out war that could even reach the final bell, especially given the resumes and strength of schedule for both men. However this one barely got started before it was all over, Hatch landed a sweet combination right after the opening bell, and put Lerwell down in a heap.

The long awaited debut of former pro boxer Yunieski Gonzalez was well worth the wait when he put his power on full display stopping Martez McGregor in the first round. Given that performance, fans can't help but imagine what his bout with fellow knockout artist Tommy Turner would’ve looked like, let's hope that gets rescheduled in the future.
