A stacked card closes out BYB’s 2024 calendar.
December 6th, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, BYB will set up the “Mighty Trigon” for the final time in 2024. In the main event of BYB 34, Heavyweight Champion Gustavo Trujillo (6-0 6 KO) will look to defend his title for the first time when he faces former BKB Heavyweight champion Richie Leak (4-1, 3 KO). Though now integrated as part of BYB, Leak was BKB’s active champion before heading into the merger, so this could be looked at as a unification of sorts.
Trujillo has won every single one of his bare knuckle bouts by devastating first round knockout spanning all the way back to 2019. He won the title off reigning champion Ike Villanueva back in July of this year. Last time out for Leak was in March of this year, in a heavyweight title fight against three division world champion Dan Podmore, defeating “Big Pod” in the third round by TKO.
The co-main is set to be another title fight when Nicholas “Cub” Hawkins (5-1, 5 KO) defends his cruiserweight gold against the surging Zion Tomlinson (4-3, 4 KO). Hawkins has had a very active year, winning his cruiserweight belt in January, winning his light heavyweight belt in April, losing his light heavyweight belt in August, and is now set to defend his cruiserweight belt in December. If he is able to defend his belt successfully, does he still have a case for Fighter of the Year? Tomlinson has had a rebirth since joining the BYB ranks, picking up two wins by KO. He is coming off a two round smashing of veteran Uly Diaz.
Jamie Driver (3-1, 2 KO) makes her long-awaited return to competition when she renews acquaintances with Sonya Dreiling (2-3, 1 KO) for the BYB Welterweight title. These two were supposed to face off back in July with the bout getting scratched last minute. However this time around, there’s an added bonus to make it worth their wait, a world title. Driver collected the win the first time around by split decision. Since that loss, Dreiling has won two in a row, one by knockout.
