On April 24th, 2024, a fight between Heather Hardy and Christine Ferea was postponed. The contest was supposed to take place at BKFC 61 on May 11th. In the following days there was still no news as to why the bout was postponed. Then on Monday, May 6th, Hardy posted on her Instagram detailing why she was officially retiring from combat sports.

To be in this brutal sport, you have to resemble the qualities that Hardy possessed. She will go down as one of the toughest fighters ever and unfortunately for her, that is also what has prevented her from continuing. But her career was certainly successful. She put up a professional boxing record of 24-3, captured a featherweight world title, fought one of the greatest female fighters ever in Amanda Serrano, not once but twice. One of those being for the undisputed championship. And despite their all-time wars in the ring they have each others respect outside of it. Serrano posted a heartfelt message about Hardy’s retirement on X.

Bare Knuckle Nation wants to wish Heather Hardy a healthy and fulfilled retirement. It was a pleasure watching her conduct her business in the ring and even more so the person she was outside of it.
