JORGE MASVIDAL HAS HIS EYES ON BKFC

Although his hands are tied with the UFC, “Gamebred” is ready to unwrap them.

Jorge Masvidal shadow boxing

One of the most recognizable figures in modern day combat sports, Jorge Masvidal, is set to return to the Octagon this coming Spring, potentially in London. The namesake of Gamebred Fighting Championship took a brief hiatus from MMA in 2023 following consecutive defeats to Kamaru Usman, Colby Covington, and Gilbert Burns but is now eyeing a return to the UFC in 2025.

Who and where isn’t exactly decided yet, but what we do know is Masvidal is also looking beyond whatever obligations he has left with the combat sports juggernaut.

When chatting with Sportsbook Review, the infamous Miami based street brawler spoke on his impending return. And while having Masvidal back in the UFC is certainly exciting for the aging combat sports fan, his interest in bare knuckle is fresh and quite honestly, way more intriguing.

“Man, we’re talking a lot. I can't give out too many details yet, but I can tell you I’m fighting next year, in March or April. We don’t know who or where yet, but we’re working on it. We’re coming up with a good game plan. We’re still working out dates but, brother, when it gets announced, it’ll be one of the biggest fights of the year. It’s going to be a big one, it’s going to make people’s heads turn.”

While he kept his return opponent a mystery (please be Leon Edwards), he made his bare knuckle targets abundantly clear.

“The two b*****s I'd want in Bare Knuckle both start with C for c***s. Colby (Covington) and Conor (McGregor). The c**t squad. The b***h asses. I would love them in Bare Knuckle and I'll plough their f*****g faces in. But those b*****s just talk a lot. It would do a lot of PPVs because a lot of people would pay to see them exterminated, but that's just my wish.”

Uhh…..Sign me up!

Yes, there’s unfinished business on the MMA side of things, but the possibility of seeing Masvidal in a bare knuckle setting is just too poetic. As for who he wants, bouts against either McGregor or Covington would surely be the biggest bare knuckle blockbuster to date. And given the fact that he mentioned BKFC co-owner McGregor, one can assume he’s set his course for the squared circle. He’s already a well known figure thanks to his success in the fight game and promotional prowess. Look no further than his meteoric rise in 2019. Gamebred can sell a fight just as well as he can fight in general.

But perhaps the most convincing aspect of this, is the fact that Jorge Masvidal started in the streets. Just Google “Street Jesus” and see what shows up. I’m not entirely sure when’s the last time he fought a bare knuckle fight, but what I do know is that he is no stranger to ungloved carnage. It just makes too much sense.

Miami based street brawler makes it big, only to return to his bare knuckle roots for one last hoorah. I don’t know about you but that sounds like a pretty good foundation for a bare knuckle movie (film producers call me). Jokes aside, BK has Jorge Masvidal written all over it.

And if it ever does come to fruition, whether it be bouts against McGregor, Covington, or anyone else Masvidal decides to provoke. I strongly believe a Jorge Masvidal BKFC event would be among the biggest in the sport's history.
