KNUCKLEMANIA IV RECAP

BKFC’s biggest annual show KnuckleMania made its fourth appearance on April 27th, in Hollywood, California.

World Champion Alfredo Angulo faced Jeremiah Riggs

What has been hailed as one of the best single round fights in BKFC history, former WBO Interim-World Champion Alfredo Angulo (1-0, 1 KO) faced Jeremiah Riggs (2-3, 2 KO’s). An insane onslaught from Riggs had Angulo in trouble early, using the BKFC clinch rules to his advantage. But after somehow surviving the battering, Angulo would return and put Riggs to the floor with a massive right hand, winning his debut in emphatic fashion.

One of BKFC’s most eye-catching heavyweights Ben Rothwell (3-0, 3 KO’s) would face the debuting Todd Duffee (0-1). The power of “Big Ben” was on full display, knocking Duffee down twice in the first round before the fight was called. Despite coming away with another KO, and first rounder at that, Rothwell was disappointed he didn’t get to put on more of a show and stated post fight.

“I came here to knock him the [expletive] out for all of you! He clipped my nose, and I was about to get pay back. And he got hit, the first time he got knocked down and the fight was over, it was already over there. I just needed to get one good connection, and this would’ve been a good clean knockout.”

The co-main event would see former light heavy and cruiserweight champion Lorenzo Hunt (11-2, 9 KO’s) challenge heavyweight champion Mick Terrill (9-1, 8 KO’s). Hunt was attempting to become the first ever three-division champion in BKFC History. Unfortunately, this one would get cut short. After an uppercut from the champ, Hunt would go crashing to the canvas right on top of his arm, dislocating his elbow. A gruesome injury ended what could’ve been one of the best heavyweight fights in company history. With the nature of the ending, Terrill was more than open to a rematch once “The Juggernaut” makes his return.

In the main event “Platinum” Mike Perry (5-0, 3 KO’s), the reigning “King of Violence”, faced off with the inaugural BKFC Middleweight Champion Thiago Alves (2-1, 1 KO). Touted as a “knock ‘em down drag ‘em out” contest it was just that…for about 60 seconds. Both men charged to the centre of the ring and began to exchange, Perry worked combinations and targeted the body, while Pitbull looked to counter. A picture-perfect left hook caught Alves right on the button and just like that it was all over. Platinum has now moved to 5-0 and rides a three-fight stoppage streak. It’s certainly not a reach to think that the King of Violence will now search for another crown. The BKFC Middleweight Championship.
